As Keep Wales Tidy unveils this year’s Green Flag Award winners – the international mark of a quality park or green space - Conwy Cabinet Member congratulates those who contributed to the success.

Ten Conwy parks and green spaces have received the Green Flag Award or Green Flag Community Award.

Cllr Geoff Stewart, Conwy County Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Neighbourhood and the Environment said:

“It’s thanks to the hard work of Friends Groups, community groups, volunteers, our Open Spaces staff and Cartrefi Conwy staff who are all involved in making sure that green spaces in Conwy County achieve these high standards.

“And everyone using parks and open spaces has a part to play too, by respecting these spaces and disposing of litter responsibly or taking it home.

“I’m delighted that these parks and green spaces have been awarded Green Flags – well done and thank you to all involved.”

A record number of parks and green spaces across Wales have reached the high standards required to fly the coveted Green Flag.

Environmental charity Keep Wales Tidy revealed the 315 sites that have received the internationally renowned Green Flag Award and Green Flag Community Award.

In Wales, the awards scheme is run by Keep Wales Tidy.

Lucy Prisk, Green Flag Coordinator for Keep Wales Tidy said:

“We’re thrilled to see 315 green spaces in Wales achieving the prestigious Green Flag status, which is testament to the dedication and hard work of hundreds of staff and volunteers.

“Quality green spaces play a vital role in the physical and mental well-being of people across Wales, and to be recognised as among the best in the world is a huge achievement - Congratulations!”
