The entire scheme runs 1.2km from Porth Eirias in the west to Splash Point (by Old Colwyn Arches) in the east and we estimate it will cost approximately £35M in total.
We have not yet found the source for all of this funding, but we have already secured some funding:
- Welsh Government Active Travel Fund (2019-20) - £1.6M to safeguard the active travel route by building a rock barricade at the vulnerable eastern corner of the promenade, and to provide other active travel improvements in this area, completed in 2020.
- Welsh Government Resilient Roads Fund (2020-21) - £6.075M to construct the first 350m of rock barricade, protecting a significant length of the most at-risk section with a rock barricade, work started in 2021.
- Welsh Government Local Transport Fund (2020-21) - £3M to increase the length of the rock barricade, protecting a significant length of the most at-risk section with a rock barricade, work started in 2021.
- Welsh Government Resilient Roads Fund (2021-22) - £6M to further increase the length of the rock barricade, raise the promenade between Rotary Way and Splash Point (by Old Colwyn Arches) and make promenade improvements, work started end of 2022.
