Llyn Crafnant family-friendly trail

Summary (optional)
start content

This 2½ mile (4 km) circular trail runs around Llyn Crafnant, sitting in the Snowdonia National Park above the village of Trefriw in the Conwy Valley.

Although there are still some slightly rough sections, significant improvements to the trail undertaken in 2013 by the Forestry Commission Wales and Conwy County Borough Council, mean that this beautiful route can now be walked by those with buggies / pushchairs. Much of the funding for the improvements came from the Welsh Government’s “Rights of Way Improvement Plan” grant, administered by the former Countryside Council for Wales (now Natural Resources Wales).

To walk the trail, start from the car park, grid reference SH756618 (where there are also toilets) near the north end of the lake. Follow the trail anti-clockwise around the lake – it is easy to follow, and waymarkers confirm the way. The trail joins a little-used minor road on the return section, and a café (summer opening only) provides an opportunity for refreshments.
