Council achieves 11 years of Green Dragon Environmental Standard

Green Dragon Environmental Standard
Conwy County Borough Council has retained Level 5 Green Dragon Environmental Standard certification for the 11th consecutive year.
The Green Dragon Environmental Standard is unique to Wales and is designed to promote good environmental management and to help organisations manage their activities in a way that impacts positively upon the environment.
Following a six day assessment at the Council, the Green Dragon auditor praised council staff for their awareness of the environmental impacts of their activities, and their enthusiasm to minimise them. He also commended the continued efforts to make environmental improvements across the council sites he visited.
Councillor Geoff Stewart, Cabinet Member for Neighbourhood and the Environment said, “I’m very proud that Conwy has gained the Green Dragon standard again. I’d like to congratulate staff on this achievement, and thank them for working so hard to meet the necessary requirements. It demonstrates our commitment to environmental improvement and shows we are delivering a priority action of Conwy’s Corporate Plan 2022-2027 as we work towards our objective to become net zero by 2030.
“We continue to embed good environmental practices into our everyday lives and, in doing so, we are helping protect the natural environment of Conwy now and for future generations.”
Background:
There are five levels within the Green Dragon Standard.
Each level covers key elements of planning, taking action, checking progress and reviewing achievements to produce continual environmental improvement.
